Introduction

ZooBox ("we," "our," or "us") operates the ZooBox Hero mobile application (the "App"), available on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. ZooBox Hero is the dedicated driver-side app used by motorcycle delivery riders ("Heroes") to receive, accept, and fulfill delivery orders on behalf of the ZooBox platform.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard information when a delivery rider uses ZooBox Hero. By downloading, installing, or using ZooBox Hero, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with these terms, please do not access or use the App.

Information We Collect

1. Driver Account Information

What We Collect:

  • Full name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Profile photo
  • National ID / driver licence reference (for KYC verification)
  • Vehicle / motorcycle details (plate, make, model)
  • Bank or payout account reference (for fee settlements)

Why We Collect It:

  • Driver onboarding, identity verification and platform compliance
  • Communication regarding order assignments, status and pay
  • Customer-support, dispute resolution and safety incident handling
  • Settling delivery fees owed to the rider

2. Location Data (Critical for Delivery Operations)

What We Collect:

  • Precise GPS location (latitude, longitude, accuracy, speed, heading)
  • Pickup and drop-off addresses for each assigned order
  • Route information while a delivery is in progress

Why We Collect It:

  • Matching the rider with nearby pending orders
  • Letting customers and dispatchers track the live position of an active delivery
  • Calculating estimated time of arrival (ETA) at pickup and at the customer
  • Verifying that orders were actually picked up and delivered
  • Safety: enabling support to locate a rider in the event of a road incident

When We Collect It (including in the background):

  • While the App is open in the foreground.
  • In the background while the rider is on shift / has accepted an order. ZooBox Hero displays a persistent foreground notification ("ZooBox Hero is sharing your location for active deliveries") whenever background location is in use, so you always know when location is being collected.
  • Background location collection automatically stops when the rider goes off shift, the active order is completed, or the App is force-closed.

How to Control It:

  • Manage location permissions through your device settings at any time.
  • Note: precise foreground and background location is required for the core delivery functionality of ZooBox Hero. Disabling it will prevent the rider from receiving or completing orders.

3. Device and Diagnostic Information

What We Collect:

  • Device model, manufacturer, operating system and version
  • App version and build number
  • Approximate IP address
  • Crash reports, stack traces and non-fatal error logs (via Sentry)
  • Push-notification token (FCM / APNs)

Why We Collect It:

  • Diagnose and fix crashes and stability issues
  • Deliver order-assignment push notifications
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse and unauthorised access

4. Order & Delivery Information

What We Collect:

  • Assigned order IDs, customer first name and masked phone number
  • Pickup and drop-off addresses for each delivery
  • Proof-of-delivery photos taken with the in-app camera (when required)
  • Order status changes (accepted, picked up, delivered, cancelled)
  • Earnings and fee history for the rider

5. Communications

  • In-app messages between the rider and the customer (when used)
  • Support tickets and replies sent to ZooBox support

How We Use Your Information

ZooBox Hero uses the information we collect to:

  1. Provide Delivery Services: Assign nearby orders, share live rider position with customers and dispatch, verify pickup and drop-off, and pay the rider correctly.
  2. Ensure Safety: Verify rider identity, support emergency response, and detect and prevent fraud or abuse on the platform.
  3. Improve Our Services: Analyse anonymised usage patterns, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  4. Communicate With You: Send order assignments, status notifications, payout confirmations and operational announcements.
  5. Customer Support: Respond to rider and customer inquiries and resolve disputes.
  6. Legal Compliance: Comply with applicable laws, tax regulations and lawful legal processes.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We Share Your Information With:

  1. Customers: Your first name, profile photo, vehicle plate and live location are shared with the customer whose order you are actively delivering.
  2. Restaurants / Pickup Partners: Your first name and approximate ETA are shared with the partner you are collecting an order from.
  3. Service Providers: We use trusted third parties for push notifications, crash reporting, mapping, and cloud hosting (see "Third-Party Services" below).
  4. Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, in response to valid legal requests, or to protect ZooBox, our users or the public.
  5. Business Transfers: In a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We Do NOT:

  • Sell your personal information to third parties.
  • Share rider location data with advertisers or use it for advertising.
  • Use rider data for purposes unrelated to operating the ZooBox Hero delivery service.

Data Storage and Security

Security Measures:

  • All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS 1.2+.
  • Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel only.
  • Authenticated requests are signed and time-bound to prevent replay attacks.
  • Encryption at rest and routine security review of the platform.

Data Retention:

  • Account information: Retained while the rider account is active and for a reasonable period after deactivation.
  • Delivery history: Retained for up to 3 years for dispute resolution, tax and legal compliance.
  • Live location pings: Retained in detail for up to 90 days, then aggregated or deleted.
  • Payout records: Retained as required by applicable financial and tax regulations.

Account & Data Deletion:

Riders can request deletion of their account and personal data at any time:

Upon receiving a verified deletion request we will delete or anonymise your data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, completed-order tax records).

Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  1. Right of Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  2. Right to Correction — correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

Children's Privacy

ZooBox Hero is a driver-side app for adult, licensed motorcycle riders only. It is not directed to and not available for use by anyone under the age of 18. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:

  • Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
  • Sending an in-app notification through ZooBox Hero.

Your continued use of ZooBox Hero after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
